Windows 8 usage ticks up after 2 months of no growth

After two months of no growth in market share, Windows 8 adoption picked up in August. The news comes as Microsoft (MSFT) is preparing to replace the unloved PC operating system with a new version, Windows 9. Windows 8 PCs accounted for 13.4% of personal computers online last month, up from 12.5% in June and July, according to Net Applications. It was the first growth for the unpopular operating system since May, when Windows 8 reached 12.6% market share. Windows 8 was released in October 2012. But 22 months after its release, Windows 8 still trails far behind the 4-year-old Windows 7 and 12-year-old Windows XP. Windows 7 is tops with 51.2% market share and Windows XP is second with 23.9%. Windows XP use has persisted despite Microsoft ending support for the old operating system on April 8. Its market share was 26.3% in April, Net Applications says…. Scalper1 News
