Sprint’s decision to stay on the sidelines in the upcoming government auction of radio spectrum now owned by TV broadcasters might be a good development for T-Mobile US (TMUS), though cable TV firms could emerge as bidders, analysts say. In the so-called “Broadcast Incentive Auction” expected to take place next year, the government plans to set aside some 30 megahertz of spectrum for bidding limited to smaller carriers.
