When Sprint (S) reports fiscal Q2 earnings before the open Tuesday, the struggling carrier could add postpaid phone subscribers for the first time since Q4 2010, thanks to its phone leasing plans. Sprint’s $1-per-month lease plan — with an Apple (AAPL) iPhone 6 trade-in — has pressured market leaders Verizon Communications (VZ) andAT&T (T) to offer leasing plans of their own.
