Verizon Buys EdgeCast, Sending Akamai Stock Down

Making a push into content delivery networks, Verizon Communications (VZ) agreed to buy privately held EdgeCast, sending shares of CDN market leader Akamai Technologies (AKAM) down. Verizon paid around $350 million for EdgeCast, reported TechCrunch.
