The number of venture-capital-backed technology companies with a market valuation of $1 billion or more has grown to 131, led by ride-hailing service provider Uber, with a $51 billion market cap. The cumulative estimated market value of all 131 companies, as judged by venture investments, is $485 billion, according to market research firm CB Insights.
