Level 3 To Buy TW Telecom; Builds AT&T, Verizon Rival

Level 3 Communications announced Monday that it’s agreed to acquire tw telecom for $5.7 billion as it bids to create a stronger rival to AT&T (T) and Verizon Communications (VZ) in business and Internet services. Level 3 Communications (LVLT) said that it would pay $10 in cash and the rest in stock. The offer is about 12% above tw telecom’s (TWTC) closing price on Friday. Level 3 stock was down 4% in early trading in the stock market today, while
