Synopsys Guidance ‘Haircut’ Spooks Investors

Investors clearly disagreed Thursday with Synopsys (SNPS) CFO Trac Pham, who late Wednesday likened the company’s three-penny trim of 2015 earnings guidance to “a deferred haircut.” Synopsys closed down 7% in the stock market today at 48.60, though shares regained a little after hours. Synopsys Gives Positive View On 2014, But Challenges

Synopsys (SNPS) stock rose Thursday, after the maker of software used to design chips late Wednesday gave a short-term outlook that lagged Wall Street expectations but its longer-term outlook beat. For its fiscal Q1 ending Jan. 31, Synopsys sees revenue of $475 million to $485 million, below analyst consensus estimates of $504.3 million. The company expects EPS minus items of 51 cents to 53 cents, where analysts had expected 62 cents. “While we
