Profiting from the selfie craze: OmniVision Technologies

The selfie trend has been criticized as narcissistic behavior. But one company capitalizing on all those self portraits isn’t complaining:  OmniVision Technologies (OVTI). OmniVision (OVTI) makes image sensors for mobile phones, tablets, notebooks and other devices. “Looking at 2015, we see the front-facing camera or ‘selfie’ trend as a primary driver of (average selling price) and revenue growth this year” for OmniVision, said Rosenblatt Securities analyst Brian Blair. He initiated coverage of the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company on Friday with a buy rating and a 12-month price target of 33.
