Lenovo solidifies grip on PC market

China-based Lenovo extended its lead in the personal computer field in the first quarter, growing at a double-digit pace while the overall market declined. Lenovo shipped nearly 13 million PCs in Q1, up 10.5% from a year earlier, research firm IDC reported late Wednesday. Meanwhile, overall industry PC shipments dropped 4.4% to 73.4 million units. Lenovo was the No. 1 PC vendor in Q1 with 17.7% market share, up from 15.3% a year earlier, IDC said. Lenovo surpassed Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) to become the top PC company in world in Q2 2013. HP Said To Show Some Progress, Price Target Hiked

Hewlett–Packard (HPQ) is showing some progress in its turnaround, though growth struggles remain.
