Hewlett-Packard Gains Server Share; IBM, Dell Decline

Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) extended its lead in the global market for server computers in the second quarter, while principal rivals IBM and Dell lost ground, market research firm IDC reported Tuesday. HP took 25.4% of the server market based on factory revenue in Q2, up from 25% a year earlier. It increased its server sales by 4% year over year to $3.19 billion, IDC said. HP has been No. 1 by server revenue since overtaking IBM (IBM) in Q3 2013.
