Adobe Systems adds third pillar to cloud strategy

Adobe Systems has added a third pillar to its Internet cloud-based services strategy. The media software company Tuesday announced its Document Cloud, which expands on Adobe’s popular online document-sharing product Acrobat and its ubiquitous PDF format. Document Cloud joins Adobe’s Creative Cloud and Marketing Cloud businesses. Adobe is pitching the Document Cloud as a modern way to manage critical documents at home, in the office and across devices. It hopes to eliminate waste and inefficiency associated with the document process, especially steps that involve paper printouts. Adobe (ADBE) is looking to make electronic signatures mainstream by including e-signing technology in its next version of Acrobat, called Adobe Acrobat DC, and in its free Adobe Reader. Adobe Systems late Tuesday posted its best quarterly earnings growth in more than four years, but investors were looking for more green in its forecast. Adobe Systems (ADBE) hopes to kick off its fiscal year on a positive note Tuesday when it reports Q1 earnings after the market close.
