Adobe Systems adds third pillar to cloud strategy
Adobe Systems has added a third pillar to its Internet cloud-based services strategy. The media software company Tuesday announced its Document Cloud, which expands on Adobe’s popular online document-sharing product Acrobat and its ubiquitous PDF format. Document Cloud joins Adobe’s Creative Cloud and Marketing Cloud businesses. Adobe is pitching the Document Cloud as a modern way to manage critical documents at home, in the office and across devices. It hopes to eliminate waste and inefficiency associated with the document process, especially steps that involve paper printouts. Adobe (ADBE) is looking to make electronic signatures mainstream by including e-signing technology in its next version of Acrobat, called Adobe Acrobat DC, and in its free Adobe Reader. Acrobat DC also uses Photoshop imaging technology to convert any paper document into a digital, editable file.
