It turns out that people weren’t as excited about plastic iPhones as Apple thought they’d be. Apple reportedly is ending its venture into colorful plastic smartphones with the iPhone 5C, introduced just last September. Apple will ditch the plastic handsets when it unveils its larger screen, next-generation iPhones in the second half of the year, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday . Apple (AAPL) unveiled the iPhone 5C on Sept. 10 when it also debuted its flagship iPhone 5S, which has an anodized aluminum body with glass inlays. The 5C comes in five bright candy colors: blue, green, pink, yellow and white. But the iPhone 5C got off on the wrong foot because many people wrongly expected it to be the company’s entry into cheaper smartphones.
