Sony eyes virtual reality games with Morpheus headset

Sony (SNE) is leading the current generation of video game consoles with its PlayStation 4, and next year it hopes to dominate the emerging field of virtual reality with its Project Morpheus. Sony Late Tuesday, the Tokyo-based company announced that it has sold more than 20.2 million units of its PS4 console as of Sunday, nearly 16 months after its launch. Sony’s PlayStation 4 has a wide lead over Microsoft ‘s (MSFT) Xbox One and Nintendo ‘s (NTDOY) Wii U consoles. Last month, research firm Strategy Analytics predicted that Sony’s PS4 will have a global active installed base of 80 million units by 2019, compared with 57 million for Microsoft’s second-place Xbox One.
