Snapchat, the ephemeral mobile-messaging service and L.A. startup darling, has a long way to go to unseat Facebook as the social media leader, but it’s gaining users with the debut of its news portal, Discover, and its foray into original content. The company, which lets users send friends messages that erase themselves within 10 seconds, notoriously rejected a $3 billion buyout offer from Facebook (FB) in 2013.
