As robust sales of cellphones made by Apple (AAPL) and Google underscore, more consumers are severing their landlines and relying solely on wireless services and mobile devices to make phone calls. The number of U.S. consumers living in a household with a mobile phone but no landline is now 44%, up from just 26% in 2010, according to research firm GfK MRI.
