Samsung goads Apple iPhone 5S to take ice bucket test

Samsung’s water-resistant Galaxy S5 smartphone survived the trendy ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in a video posted online Friday. The South Korean company nominated Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 5S to get doused with ice water for charity in the same way, knowing that it likely wouldn’t pass. Samsung said it made a donation to the Motor Neurone Disease Association in the U.K. as part of its video stunt. In addition to the iPhone 5S, Samsung nominated the HTC One M8 and Nokia Lumia 930 to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. None of the three phones nominated for the challenge by Samsung is water-resistant. The Ice Bucket Challenge was created to raise awareness and funding to fight Lou Gehrig’s disease, also called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or motor neurone disease.
