Use of ride-sharing services like Uber is still uber-low, according to a new survey by the Morning Consult. A poll of U.S. adults living in metropolitan areas found that 14% have used a smartphone application to order a taxi, 10% have used ride-sharing service Uber and 4% have used rival service Lyft. The Morning Consult surveyed 1,094 registered voters residing in metropolitan areas where Uber operates from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3. The interviews were conducted online. More people have a favorable view of Uber (36%) than an unfavorable view (13%), the survey revealed. The same report found that 44% have a favorable view of taxi companies, while 28% have an unfavorable view. However, the favorable rating for Uber shoots up to 88% among people who have actually used the service. Some 9% of Uber users have an unfavorable view of the service.
