For the first time ever, the U.S. pay-television industry lost customers in the traditionally strong first-quarter, highlighting the difficulties subscription-based TV providers face amid an Internet onslaught from Netflix (NFLX), Dish Network’s (DISH) Sling TV, Hulu and others, with Apple (AAPL) and others possible players down the road.
