Thanks to its supplier relationship with Tesla Motors (TSLA), Panasonic leads in the nascent market for electric vehicle batteries. Japan-based Panasonic had 39% market share in the second quarter, followed by China’s BYD with 24%, according to Lux Research. Japan’s NEC was in third place with 12% market share.
