A long-overdue refresh to the Apple TV set-top box reportedly will feature a radically redesigned remote control. The new remote will use a touch pad for scrolling around and include just two physical buttons, the New York Times reported Monday. It also will be slightly thicker than the current remote control, which has a click wheel and two other buttons. The new Apple TV and remote control are expected to be unveiled at Apple’s (AAPL) Worldwide Developers Conference, which runs June 8-12 in San Francisco. Other rumors about the next-generation Apple TV point to it using Siri voice search and controls as well as an App Store. Apple also is believed to be working on its own over-the-top Internet TV service to compete with similar offerings from Dish Network, Sony and others.
