Subscription streaming video service Netflix (NFLX) isn’t slowing its rapid international expansion plans. Late Tuesday, it announced it will launch in Australia and New Zealand in March. The move was widely expected, and a no-brainer for the Internet video network. Australia and New Zealand are English-speaking markets that have already shown a desire for Netflix by using VPN technology to skirt geographic restrictions. Netflix reportedly has amassed more than 200,000 Australian customers who circumvent the company’s geoblocks by accessing its U.S. service through virtual private networks, the Hollywood Reporter said. In September, Netflix launched in six European countries: France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg. The addition of Australia and New Zealand will bring the number of countries and territories receiving Netflix service to more than 50.
