Microsoft’s bad bet on Windows 8 exposed by low touchscreen use

Touchscreen PC monitors made up just 0.4% of all monitor shipments in the second quarter, nearly two years after the release of Microsoft’s (MSFT) touch-centric Windows 8 PC operating system. Touchscreen monitors are a small sliver of worldwide PC monitor shipments, but the largest share of them (39.5%) is sold in the U.S., IDC analyst Keerthi Maganti said.
