The one word used most often to describe the selection Tuesday of Satya Nadella as the new CEO of Microsoft was “safe.” Analysts repeatedly described the longtime Microsoft (MSFT) executive as a “safe choice” for the job. Nadella, 46, has worked for Microsoft for 22 years, most recently as executive vice president of Microsoft’s Cloud & Enterprise group.
