The LED lighting industry is slated for a slowdown, veering off 5% growth in 2015 to 2% growth in 2016 as the market reaches saturation, and as generic products displace pricier offerings amid fevered M&A in the chip sector, a new forecast said. Needham analyst Y. Edwin Mok sees LED sales falling flat in 2017 and maintained his hold ratings on light-component makers Cree (CREE) and Veeco Instruments (VECO).
