Infinera To Buy Swedish Firm For Next-Gen Broadband

Infinera (INFN) is reaching offshore to boost its telecom fiber-optics business. The company late Wednesday said that it plans to acquire Transmode, a Sweden-based leader in metro packet-optical networking, for about $350 million. Infinera will provide about $96 million in cash and will issue 13 million new Infinera shares to Transmode shareholders.
