Google, Others May Humble Wireless Carriers With Apps

Google’s expected entry into wireless services, though not imminent, will force AT&T and Verizon Communications (VZ) to speed up the development of cloud-based “converged” services for consumers, in order to compete, says Oppenheimer in a research report. Google (GOOGL) confirmed at last month’s Mobile World Congress that it plans to sell wireless services, though it said it would not compete broadly vs. phone companies.
