Early Apple Watch supply ‘significantly constrained’

A pple Watch buyers discovered Friday that some models of the new smartwatch won’t be available for shipment until June or July. Early supplies of the new Apple (AAPL) wearable device were quickly snapped up Friday when it became available for pre-order online starting about 3 a.m. Eastern time. “The start of Apple Watch pre-orders was typical Apple,” BTIG analyst Walter Piecyk said in a research report Friday. “Expected delivery dates were pushed out for the most popular models within 5 minutes and within the hour only a few models remained available for a launch day (April 24) delivery.” Soon after pre-orders began, delivery dates for the most popular models were pushed back three to four weeks, to May 13-27.
