Apple (AAPL) Watch and Apple Pay got some mixed signals about their likely popularity as an integrated payment system from a global survey issued Monday. It seems that payments aren’t exactly top of mind in most countries, even where potential smartwatch users want the devices to carry travel tickets, identity cards and health care data. A study covering China, Germany, South Korea, the U.K. and the U.S., by German-based market research consultant GfK, found that only folks in the U.S. and China are noticeably interested in making payments using their smartwatches. In all, 54% of Chinese and 40% of Americans were interested in using the payment feature. Only 28% of South Koreans, 27% of Brits and 20% of Germans wanted to use their smartwatches for payments.
