Consumers ready for drones to deliver pizzas, other goods

The Federal Aviation Administration is against companies using drones to deliver goods to consumers, but a new survey finds that consumers have accepted the idea. Two-thirds of consumers say that they expect to receive their first drone-delivered package in the next five years, according to “2015 Future of Retail Study,” an online survey of more than 1,400 U.S. consumers by Walker Sands Communications. Almost 80% of consumers are willing to pay extra for drone delivery, says the report, released Wednesday. And 48% say that they would pay at least $5 for the local air delivery service. Four out of five shoppers say that drone delivery within the hour to their doorsteps would make them more likely to order online from a retailer, according to the Walker Sands report.
