Chip Manufacturing Equipment Sales Slowing

Worldwide sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment are growing, but the growth rate is slowing. Chip gear billings reached $8.82 billion in the third quarter, up 15% from the same quarter last year, the industry association SEMI reported Monday. That’s down from year-over-year growth rates of 28% in Q2 and 39% in Q1. Semiconductor equipment bookings totaled $9.32 billion in Q3, up 4% from the year-earlier quarter.
