Apple (AAPL) signaled Monday that it will have trouble filling early orders for its eighth-generation smartphone lineup. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company announced pre-orders for over 4 million units of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus during their first 24 hours online. Apple and its carrier partners began taking pre-orders for the new handsets before dawn Friday morning. Demand for the new iPhones exceeds the initial pre-order supply, Apple said in a press release. It added that many iPhone pre-orders won’t be delivered until sometime in October. But Apple and wireless carriers AT&T (T), Sprint (S), T-Mobile (TMUS) and Verizon (VZ) will have units available for purchase on Friday, ensuring that consumers will line up outside those stores before they open at 8 a.m. local time. “Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet… Scalper1 News
