Apple iPhone 6S seen offering better battery life

Apple (AAPL) iPhone fans could get their wish for longer battery life with the next iPhone based on a report that it is using a more power-efficient wireless chip. For the iPhone 6S, Apple has selected a new LTE chip from Qualcomm (QCOM) that is capable of delivering twice the download speeds of the chip used in the current iPhone 6, 9to5Mac reported Wednesday. That means faster downloads of apps, music, movies and Web pages. The Qualcomm MDM9635M chip can download content at a rate of 300 megabits per second when connected to an LTE network. Today’s iPhone 6 is only capable of downloading files at 150 mbps. The new Qualcomm chip is more power efficient, which should translate to better battery life, 9to5Mac said.
