Apple (AAPL) is paying about $234 for the parts used in making the 64-gigabyte iPhone 6S, based on research estimates from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, excluding manufacturing and distribution costs. The retail price of an unlocked version of the phone is $749. The largest costs are the chips, accounting for $127, or 54% of the total.
