China e-commerce leader Alibaba Group’s accelerated revenue growth in the second quarter was driven by shoppers using their smartphones to buy goods online. Alibaba had 279 million active buyers on its e-commerce sites in the second quarter, up 24 million from Q1 and up 51% from Q2 2013. It processed $296 billion in gross merchandise volume in Q2, with 32.8% of that by people using mobile devices, up from just 12% in Q2 2013, Alibaba reported in Scalper1 News
