Nearly 300,000 U.S. homes dumped their pay-TV services in the second quarter, with cable TV companies bearing the brunt of the subscriber losses, Leichtman Research Group reported Thursday. The 13 largest pay-TV providers in the U.S. — representing about 95% of the market — lost 298,000 net video subscribers in Q2. The second quarter is a seasonally weak time for the pay-TV industry, principal analyst Bruce Leichtman said in a statement . And this year’s Q2 subscriber losses were less than the loss of 350,000 subscribers experienced in Q2 2013, he said. Scalper1 News
